An analytical balance weighs to 0.0001 g (0.1 mg) — one tenth of a milligram. At this resolution, environmental factors that are invisible to coarser instruments become significant: air currents, vibration, electrostatic charge on fine powders, and temperature drift. A&D Japan's analytical balances are engineered to suppress these effects using Super Hybrid Sensor (SHS) technology, which rejects vibration without sacrificing accuracy, and automatic internal calibration that compensates for temperature change throughout the working day.

In UAE laboratories, the most common analytical balance applications are pharmaceutical dispensing and QC (USP Chapter 41 compliance), chemical titration, gold purity verification, and materials characterisation. What readability does an analytical balance offer?
Analytical balances resolve to 0.0001 g (0.1 mg). A&D analytical balances such as the GH and GX-A Series are calibrated and verified to this level using SHS electromagnetic force restoration technology, maintaining accuracy across the full weighing range.
Which A&D analytical balance is recommended for pharmaceutical use in the UAE?

Do analytical balances need to be recalibrated in the UAE climate?
Yes. UAE ambient temperature swings — especially when air conditioning cycles — affect balance span. A&D analytical balances with an internal calibration mass — the GX-A Apollo models, the GH Series and the FZ models of the new Fortis range — correct their span as temperature drifts (automatically on the GX-A; at one key press on Fortis). A&D Gulf issues calibration certificates documenting traceability to recognised national measurement standards, with the test points, results and expanded measurement uncertainty stated. We provide traceable calibration; we do not claim ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
What is the difference between an analytical balance and a semi-micro balance?
Both read to 0.0001 g, but a semi-micro balance adds 0.00001 g (0.01 mg) resolution over a finer sub-range on the same pan — on the A&D GH-252 that is 250 g total with 0.01 mg available up to 101 g, and on the GH-202 it is 220 g with 0.01 mg up to 51 g. Settling lengthens from about 3.5 seconds at 0.1 mg to about 8 seconds at 0.01 mg. The GH-300, GH-200 and GH-120 are 0.1 mg models. A&D Gulf can advise on the correct model for your application.
Can I connect an A&D analytical balance to my LIMS or ERP system?
Yes. Current A&D analytical balances — the GH Series, the GX-A/GX-AE Apollo range and the Fortis FZ/FX generation — include RS-232C as standard, with USB standard on the Apollo range. USB and Ethernet converters are available. A&D Gulf provides integration support for common LIMS platforms used in UAE pharmaceutical and food testing labs.
