Analytical Balances in UAE

A&D Gulf FZE · Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai · Since 1986

A&D Gulf is the authorised A&D Japan distributor for analytical balances in the UAE and GCC. We supply the GH, GR, and 0.1 mg GX-A/GF-A Series — all with 0.0001 g (0.1 mg) readability — with calibration and service support, shipped from our JAFZA warehouse in Dubai or supplied to order from A&D Japan.

An analytical balance weighs to 0.0001 g (0.1 mg) — one tenth of a milligram. At this resolution, environmental factors that are invisible to coarser instruments become significant: air currents, vibration, electrostatic charge on fine powders, and temperature drift. A&D Japan's analytical balances are engineered to suppress these effects using Super Hybrid Sensor (SHS) technology, which rejects vibration without sacrificing accuracy, and automatic internal calibration that compensates for temperature change throughout the working day.

In UAE laboratories, the most common analytical balance applications are pharmaceutical dispensing and QC (USP Chapter 41 compliance), chemical titration, gold purity verification, and materials characterisation. The A&D GH Series and GX-A 0.1 mg models are the definitive choices for these settings: fully enclosed draft shields, SHS measurement, GLP/ISO compliant data output, and automatic internal calibration — all in compact footprints that fit standard laboratory fume hood benching.

For samples where static charge is a problem — fine API powders, catalyst particles, titanium shavings — the GH Series semi-micro balance adds a built-in ionizer to the 0.0001 g platform, eliminating the need for a separate anti-static device. A&D Gulf maintains stock of the GH-200 and GH-252 at JAFZA and can configure custom calibration intervals and GLP templates for pharmaceutical customers ahead of regulatory audits.

A&D Gulf FZE has supplied and calibrated analytical balances across the UAE since 1986. Our service engineers are based at Jebel Ali and cover Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and the wider GCC — offering site installation, initial performance qualification (IQ/OQ), and annual calibration certificates traceable to national measurement standards.

Analytical Balance FAQ — UAE

What readability does an analytical balance offer?
Analytical balances resolve to 0.0001 g (0.1 mg). A&D analytical balances such as the GH and GX-A Series are calibrated and verified to this level using SHS electromagnetic force restoration technology, maintaining accuracy across the full weighing range.
Which A&D analytical balance is recommended for pharmaceutical use in the UAE?
The GH Series and the 0.1 mg models of the GX-A Apollo Series are the most commonly specified A&D analytical balances for UAE pharmaceutical and compounding laboratories — fully enclosed draft shields, internal auto-calibration, GLP/ISO output, and USP/EP pharmacopoeia weighing compliance, with minimum-weight alerts on the GX-A.
Do analytical balances need to be recalibrated in the UAE climate?
Yes. UAE ambient temperature swings — especially when air conditioning cycles — affect balance span. A&D analytical balances with an internal calibration mass — the GX-A Apollo models, the GH Series and the FZ models of the new Fortis range — correct their span as temperature drifts (automatically on the GX-A; at one key press on Fortis). A&D Gulf issues calibration certificates documenting traceability to recognised national measurement standards, with the test points, results and expanded measurement uncertainty stated. We provide traceable calibration; we do not claim ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
What is the difference between an analytical balance and a semi-micro balance?
Both read to 0.0001 g, but a semi-micro balance adds 0.00001 g (0.01 mg) resolution over a finer sub-range on the same pan — on the A&D GH-252 that is 250 g total with 0.01 mg available up to 101 g, and on the GH-202 it is 220 g with 0.01 mg up to 51 g. Settling lengthens from about 3.5 seconds at 0.1 mg to about 8 seconds at 0.01 mg. The GH-300, GH-200 and GH-120 are 0.1 mg models. A&D Gulf can advise on the correct model for your application.
Can I connect an A&D analytical balance to my LIMS or ERP system?
Yes. Current A&D analytical balances — the GH Series, the GX-A/GX-AE Apollo range and the Fortis FZ/FX generation — include RS-232C as standard, with USB standard on the Apollo range. USB and Ethernet converters are available. A&D Gulf provides integration support for common LIMS platforms used in UAE pharmaceutical and food testing labs.
